# Morris Terzo — Civil Engineer Turned Melbourne Builder

## Civil engineer. Developer. Builder.

Morris Terzo studied civil engineering at Victoria University. He didn’t go straight to site — he went to Boral, where he managed regional operations and learned how large-scale construction actually works: logistics, materials, contracts, and the gap between what gets drawn and what gets built.

From there he moved into property development, running his own projects and learning the commercial side — feasibility, planning, risk. He saw how developers think, what they optimise for, and where corners get cut.

In 2009, he picked up a builder’s licence. Not because it was the next career move, but because he’d spent enough time watching other people build badly. He wanted to do it properly — with the engineering rigour he’d trained in and the commercial discipline he’d earned.

That combination — engineer, developer, builder — is what Built for Life is built on. When Morris assesses a brief, he’s thinking about what the structure will do in fifty years, not just what it looks like on handover day. When a cost issue comes up on site, he’s already seen it from the developer’s side of the table.

The Porter Davis Story

## The builder who finished what Porter Davis couldn’t

In February 2023, Porter Davis Group collapsed. Hundreds of Melbourne families were left with half-built homes, stalled permits, and insurance claims going nowhere. Most had already spent their savings. Some had sold their previous home. They were stuck.

Morris stepped in. He took on rescue builds for affected families — navigating the VMIA insurance process, reactivating lapsed building permits, assessing and remediating defects left by the previous builder, and re-engaging trades to complete the work.

One family in Macleod had a home with incomplete roofing, exposed framing, and months of weather damage. Morris completed their build and handed them the keys before Christmas 2023.

He didn’t do it for the publicity. He did it because families needed a builder who would actually show up. That’s the same standard he holds on every project.
